We are getting closer… We just finished a test photo shoot using a working prototype. I happened to have the good fortune to meet the man behind SpartanThunder.com more or less by accident the other day. Through our conversation, one thing lead to the other, I mentioned The Beerbelly and he said, that would be great on his site… I asked about his site… and checked it out, pretty impressive! Check it out.

There is alot of information here as well as forums and message boards… It covers everything from Spartan Football, Basketball, Baseball, Soccer, and Golf on their high traffic message boards to private forums concerning San Jose State athletics recruiting efforts, premium WAC conference content, and premium story content.

The Indiana Daily Student, published an article today that makes it pretty clear that drinking beer at least in moderation will not give you a beer belly. The article went on to point out that drinking a soda is much worse for you from the point of view of calories and carbohydrates…

I would like to present the following motion for second and voting… Let’s change the common phrase “beer belly” to Soda Belly or Pop Belly or whatever you call it in your neck of the woods. Can I get an Amen Brother?

We are looking for the best recipe for a new drink… We are calling it the Neoprene Sling. It all started during an interview with Jeff Houck aka “The Stew” a writer with the Tampa Tribune. In describing The Beerbelly, I mentioned that it was made up of 2 parts, the neoprene sling and the bladder. Well he said, that would be a great name for a cocktail, The Neoprene Sling… I said send me the recipe and it’s yours! Well… I still haven’t heard from him, I’m sure he’s a very busy guy, so I’m throwing it out to you to see what you can come up with. The winner will get one of our Beerbelly Buddy Bundles. We just got word that members of the Vail Ski Patrol are using The Beerbelly as their hydration system of choice while on the mountain. It makes sense, since it lowers the center of gravity, stays snug to the body, doesn’t get hung up on the lift, they don’t have to worry about the dispensing tube freezing like other systems, and fill it with something warm and you stay nice and toasty for the day.

We would love to validate this rumor if possible as well as get any stories from you about “alternative uses”.

This is a true story… seriously, I was there. While visiting Whistler BC for Crankworx, a huge biking event, I met Griz. Now Griz is a big guy, maybe 6′2″+ around 220lbs. He did me a favor so I hooked him up with a Beerbelly. At the time I didn’t know it, but he was also a bouncer at one of the local bars. Well, he decided to wear his Beerbelly to work, showed his boss who gave him the green light to fill it up and have some fun. Once the word got out that Griz as serving free beer from his Beerbelly hose, he had ladies lined up to put his hose in their mouth and then they would give him a big bear hug to shoot it into their mouth. Needless to say, Griz had a blast and became the envy of every guy in the bar. He ended up buying the rest of my stash and selling them to his buddies, at I’m sure a significant profit, since they had visions of getting bear hugs from all the lovely ladies as well.

The Beerbelly is all about having a good time… sneaking a drink certainly is a good reason to get a Beerbelly, but wearing a Beerbelly opens up so many opportunities to increase your fun. That to me is really what sporting a removable gut is all about.
